Review 3: Milk & Honey Coffeehouse & Gallery
Diamond State Review 3: Milk and Honey
This past Friday, I got the chance to visit Milk and Honey Coffeehouse & Gallery, located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. I have been to this coffeehouse more times than I can count, and I honestly attribute it to why I fell in love with the Diamond State.
milk and honey
noun phrase/place
prosperity and abundance.
a coffeeshop where you can play and work hard in the state of Delaware.
Upon my move to DE back in June 2021, I was lost in terms of social life and how to begin immersing myself in this new environment. At the time, I resided in Middletown, and I could not find many places that were fun or reminded me of home. As a Jersey girl who has lived in various parts of the South and Northeast, I am accustomed to a more vibrant social space with more cultural attraction options. Unfortunately, living in Middletown did not make it easy to find those spaces. One day, I decided to research popular cafes in the state, leading me to Milk and Honey Coffeehouse, and the rest was history.
Since then, I have been regarded by friends and family as the person who knows where all the hot spots are in Delaware. While this is not true, I know enough to give a tourist some great recommendations. Milk and Honey was the first place I realized there was so much more to the state, especially in the city of Wilmington. There was a bulletin board with flyers about local businesses, upcoming events, and community programs. Seeing this brought me much-needed relief as I began to think my move to Delaware was a mistake. As a creative individual, I thrive on being located in areas and cities that cater to my creativity. Milk and Honey reminded me of this, which is also how I attended my first event at the Wilmington Public Library (review coming soon).
Now to the part you all have been waiting for, the food!! Milk and Honey has a wide range of breakfast, lunch, and dessert options with specialty drinks. One of my ultimate favorite drinks is their guava smoothie. This smoothie takes me back to my childhood growing up in South Florida. Guava was a staple fruit in many of the treats and drinks I enjoyed the most as a child. Since then, that has been my go-to drink of choice. In the fall, I enjoy selecting from their autumn-specific drink menu featuring specialized lattes. You cannot go wrong with a latte.
One of my favorite sandwiches is their classic egg and cheese. It is a simple but well-made breakfast sandwich that always hits the spot. You also have the option of adding meat with their classic plus option. Another fav is their breakfast platter, which includes French toast or blueberry pancakes with your choice of meat and eggs. A classic breakfast staple that satisfies your morning cravings to kick off your day the right way.
Now let’s discuss my most recent visit when I had the pleasure of trying the BABYCAKE wrap, which was absolutely delicious! This wrap is a marinated grilled chicken breast with romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, and Caesar dressing wrapped in a flour tortilla. If anyone truly knows me, you know I am obsessed with Caesar salads. One of the friendly baristas recommended this sandwich and asked if I wanted to try it with jerk sauce. Of course, I said yes, and the jerk sauce was the perfect addition to the wrap.
With all that said, I give Milk and Honey a solid 10/10 for many reasons, including its ambiance, the food, the staff, and the space. It is the perfect space to enjoy a great meal, beautiful artwork, and music. It also has enough space to accommodate work meetings or hanging out with a small group of friends. I have even used it as my work-from-home space when I have gotten tired of my home office. There is also a section for books and games where you can read or play a board game with friends. If you have been wanting to visit Milk and Honey Coffeehouse & Gallery, I highly recommend that you give it a try.
